Love, Lies and Lunacy
I am very excited about our spring play,
Love, Lies and Lunacy. With my background in Commedia dell' Arte we've decided to produce a show in the traditional commedia manner. The show was cast a few weeks ago and actors were chosen in regards to character types. Based on who was cast, I chose a scenario from Flamino Scala. The scenario I chose is entitled,
Isabella's Jealousy, first produced around 1622. I have taken the liberties of re-writing the scenario to add in my own take on things and to throw in some of my favorite Lazzi. The scenario is finished and we've begun the training period for the actors. They will now begin the process of learning their character-types in regards to movement and speech with emphasis on historical tradition. The play will then be created through improvisation during rehearsals.
Stay tuned for more!
